Monkey is a common name that may refer to most mammals of the infraorder Simiiformes, also known as the simians. Many monkey species are arboreal, although there are species that live primarily on the ground, such as baboons. Most species are mainly active during the day. Monkeys are generally considered to be intelligent, especially the Old World monkeys.

Monkeys, including apes, can be distinguished from other primates by having only two pectoral nipples, a pendulous penis, and a lack of sensory whiskers.

Monkeys are playful creatures, with a barrel being the traditional measure of fun.  And when they shine at having fun, we call it monkey shines!

And so it’s off to monkey around with our monkeys, and let them shine!

Crossing the bridge to fun.

Crossing the bridge to fun.

Our monkeys know that, once they cross the bridge, the fun begins, so they climb over each other to be the first.  Silly monkeys!

Our monkeys love to bang on things, so let’s give them some pipes!

Beat it, monkey!

Beat it, monkey!

They both begin to play, but one monkey takes to it as if she’s been beating on pipes her whole life!

Play that funky music, monkey girl!

The music is uplifting and full of cheer.  We hope the neighbors enjoy it, too.

The monkeys find a stone frog and take a break.

Posing on a frog. So cute!

Posing on a frog. So cute!

But, of course, they can’t resist the urge to play some more.

I guess monkeys and stone frogs were made for each other.  At least the neighbors won’t complain about the noise….

Nope, no evil here.

Nope, no evil here.

See no evil, hear no evil, say no evil.  Ha!  As if our monkeys could be anything but fun!

Our monkeys are tired!  Time to take a break.

Monkeys love to cuddle.

Monkeys love to cuddle.

So cute!  Our monkeys love each other!

Silly monkey!

Silly monkey!

Look at me!  I can do a backwards handstand!

More fun than a barrel of, well, you know.

More fun than a barrel of, well, you know.

Even when monkeys are tired, they still find time to play with each other.

Oh, no!

Oh, no!

What crazy antics!  I hope she is not injured….

Is she okay?

Is she okay?

Uh oh.  That sidewalk is hard.  And cold.  Brrrrr.

Our monkey surprised herself!

Our monkey surprised herself!

Ha ha.  She made herself laugh.  Silly monkey.

Everyone loves monkeys!

Everyone loves monkeys!

Monkeys are clumsy!  And full of happy.

Our monkeys see a big field.  Let’s run around and dance and play!

Let's play in the grass!

Let’s play in the grass!

Monkeys can’t resist a big field to play in.  Fact!

You have to smile when you see monkeys playing.  ?

Monkey’s love big rocks, right?  Well, at least ours do….

Warning: Monkeys love to chew on hair.

Warning: Monkeys love to chew on hair.

There are fun places to hide in rocks.  But rocks are even more fun to climb!

Getting ready to climb!

Getting ready to climb!

Monkeys are better at climbing trees than climbing rocks.

It looks like she's going to need a little help.

It looks like she’s going to need a little help.

“I need a boost!”

Hey! Her face is up there!

Hey! Her face is up there!

Sometimes, monkeys get distracted.

That's a pretty big smile...

That’s a pretty big smile…

Okay, I think they might be getting a little TOO distracted…gonna have to wash that hand.

She made it!

She made it!

Our monkeys are as happy as can be.  As always.

A hair-py ending.

A hair-py ending.

It’s been a long day, and our monkeys are tired. Time to go home, slip out of these uncomfortable clothes, and enjoy the evening together. Until next time…

awa Travels Tip: A neighborhood park can be a great place to monkey around on an autumn day.  Get in touch with your own inner monkey and see what happens.
